Mount Emin | Rwenzori Mountains National Park

Mount Emin at 15742ft in the Rwenzori Mountains was named after Mohammed Emin Pasha, who widely explored central Africa. The strenuous mountain with narrow & rocky ridges is considered the 4th of the Rwenzori ranges, yet 6th in Africa, although it has no snow.

Mount Emin in Rwenzori Mountains National ParkThe mountain has two peaks of Umberto at 1574ft and Kraepelin at 15720ft, both of which lie between the border of Uganda and Congo, thus accessing it is more possible from the Congo side. Climbing this mountain in the Rwenzori Mountains National Park usually starts from the South West of the Ridge, and can easily be reached from the Mugusu Valley, which stretches into Congo, there after continues through the groundsel sheltered steep descent to the path between both peaks, then continues to the peak.

This mountain range can be trekked all year round, although it is best hiked during the dry months of January, February, June, July and August due to the less rains received.
