We also recommend, you carry  along some of your favorite “energy” snacks, foods, drinks, some specialty ingredients,  and more depending how much you can carry  in your day pack for your trek.

Altitude is one greater factor that that leads to a reduced appetite. We offer hearty meals, rich in “good” carbohydrates, which is the most efficient fuel for optimizing performance at all altitudes”, speeding up recovery and rebuilding muscle glycogen stores for the activity. Carbohydrates diets are highly recommended as an intervention to alleviate symptoms of Acute Mountain Sickness as it increases ventilation and blood oxygenation.

Foods rich in carbohydrates are often more palatable than foods rich in proteins or fats, and altitude changes your metabolic processes. The amount of hours on the trail as well as your body adjusting to altitude means you’ll require much higher energy requirement than you would have back home.

We only use fresh produce, and all food is carried up Mount Kilimanjaro by our porters.

Drinking Water on Kilimanjaro

We provide bottled, treated & purified water throughout the trek, for the number of days you will spend in the Rwenzori mountains National Park.

Hydrating frequently is highly recommended, while trekking the Rwenzori mountains. This is because the dry air, exertion as well as altitude can easily dehydrate you. That’s why we urge you pack enough water in your daypack, every morning before you set off for the trek.

Otherwise, you can carry an empty bottle, along the trek so that you can keep refilling with water from the Rwenzori mountains flowing river. The water is considered safe. Though not treated, you can carry along water purifies and whatever it takes to treat your drinking water.

How much water should I drink each day when trekking Rwenzori Mountains?

Aim at drinking between 3-4 liters each day, you can as well come with an electrolyte formula to add to your water, and any flavoring drops, if you find plain water tasteless.
